• Software cracking (known as "breaking" in the 1980s.) is the process of illegally modifying software to remove or deactivate features that prevent complete use of the program, especially manipulation of copy protection features (serial number, key hardware, check date and disk check, or nag screen interruption software).

• An average crack refers to a type of software, or a destructive tool. Some of these tools are keygen, patch, fairlight, nuclear and loader.

• Keygen is an artificial product license generator that offers the ability to produce "legal" licenses on your own behalf.
• Patch is a small computer program that changes code from other programs. Patches have advantages that do not require large memory execution because only a few bytes are changed.
• The loader modifies the startup flow of the program and does not remove protection but circumvent. A famous example of a loader is a trainer that is used to manipulate game patterns.
• Fairlight presents one .nfo file extension that is not included for game releases.
• Nukewar serves to detect the validity of cracks.

1. Impact

• The most visible and controversial impact of software cracking is the full control of software operations without an official copy license. It takes a long time and dedicated work from the development team to complete a quality and economically valuable software, but in the end, their struggle feels meaningless when a crack version for their software is available for free on the internet. Cracking affects wise business and more importantly, weakens the motivation of the software development team.
